God Gave You a Gift: Take Care of It

1 Corinthians 6:19-20: “Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.” This text was the focus of a post I read this morning called, Faith & Health: Your Body the Temple.

I believe that all Christians know or must have at least heard this at some point. However not a lot of us actually take it seriously and live by it. Many of us do not take good care of our bodies, or if we do we are not really doing it because God is within us but out of our own personal goals and reasons.

I am thankful that I was able to read this today. It reminded me that my body is not just a human structure. It is a shrine, a sacred edifice, or sanctuary of the creator and ruler of the entire universe. Thus, I need to take good care of it and make sure that it will remain to be a fitting dwelling for a King.
