All of us are bound to go through some difficult situations in our lives. In fact, I believe that at this point, all of us must have experienced one or two really tough times. The good news is we never brave through any of life’s storms alone–God is always with us. However, finding him and feeling his help and presence amidst troubling times can be hard for many of us, and there is no greater way to remind ourselves of God’s goodness and love than to turn to his Holy Words.
The seemingly simple task of reading the Bible can offer us the strength, perspective, inspiration, and peace that we need. I have personally experienced the power of the Scriptures several times in my life. I have come to consider it as my greatest source of enlightenment during difficult situations.
Among my favorite verses in the Bible are:
- Philippians 4:13 – “I can do everything through him who gives me strength.”
- Isaiah 43:2-3 – “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they will not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched, Nor will the flame burn you. “For I am the LORD your God, The Holy One of Israel, your Savior; I have given Egypt as your ransom, Cush and Seba in your place.”
- Matthew 11:28-30 – “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. “Take My yoke upon you, and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and you shall find rest for your souls. “For My yoke is easy, and My load is light.”
