iKotel App Places Western Wall on Display

It’s like Google Earth–to the extreme.  The new app (short of course for ‘application’) from Apple allows its users to view a live satellite feed of Western Wall 24/7, the most holy spot in Judaism.

President of the Western Wall Heritage Foundation Joseph Loshinsky says he believes the app solves the problem of “thousands of years of people dreaming of Jerusalem but not being able to get there. ”  “We had to get with the times,” he continued.

According to CNN, along with the video (up everyday except Saturday) of the wall the app includes a compass orienting users towards the wall (if praying from afar), and a tool for sending messages to be inserted into the wall, as per the Jewish tradition.
