Real-life Noah’s Ark

According to an article found at The Deacon’s Bench, plans are underway to create a full-scale replica of Noah’s Ark.

The “Ark Encounter” will consume 3 years and $150 million in its construction.
However, the finished product is set to include live animal shows, an aviary, a replica of the Tower of Babel with exhibits, a children’s interactive play area, a 500-seat 5-D special effects theater, a lookalike first-century Middle Eastern village and a “Walled City much like was found in ancient times,” the release said.

Located slated for Kentucky, the “Arc Encounter” is already generating much excitement.  The state’s governor Steve Beshear applauded the effort, stating: “We are excited to join with the Ark Encounter group as it seeks to provide this unique, family friendly tourist attraction to the Commonwealth.  Bringing new jobs to Kentucky is my top priority, and with the estimated 900 jobs this project will create, I am happy about the economic impact this project will have on the Northern Kentucky region.”

This looks massive, and very fun, but I can’t help wonder if there’s a better way for $150 million dollars to be spent than on a theme park?
