Show a Student You Care

Quick– if I say “December,”  what’s the first thing that pops into your mind?  Christmas?  Tying up loose ends? The last month of the fiscal year?

Bet you didn’t think “stressful time for students,” did you?

Well, December is actually an incredibly stressful time for students: final exams, finishing the semester, registering for SAT’s, taking the LSAT’s, receiving college “Early Decision” responses… the life of a student is often regarded as laid-back, but that’s definitely not the case at the end of the year!

So, instead of an extra pair of socks in their Christmas stocking, show a student now that you care, and that your thoughts are with him or her during this time of academic insanity.

A care package is always nice, with favorite items including homemade baked goods for late-night study snacks, a thoughtful letter or card for reassurance, and something to help them relax (perhaps a candle, or some calming music).  And hey, why not add in a little divine intervention?  St. Thomas Aquinas is the patron saint of students, and who doesn’t need a little extra help (Have you ever seen a college-level math exam? Those things are hard!).  Try maybe a St. Thomas card or medal to complete the care package.

Good luck to all you students out there!!
