In my humble opinion, one of the best aspects of Christmas the music. The holiday season provides an endless supply of cheer and goodwill conveyed through song–holiday classics mixed with modern compositions, expressed from artists from every genre possible. As Buddy the Elf will tell you, “The best way to spread Christmas cheer is to sing it loud for all to hear” (and by the way, if you don’t get that reference, or haven’t yet seen the film Elf, do it immediately!)
Anyway, mycatholicblog has too many favorite Christmas songs to name in one blog (or even one hundred blogs!), but we did find this short guide to the albums released this year that are generating particular attention.
Of course, many Christmas songs (especially the older ones) focus on the religious aspects of Christmas, and many Christian artists in turn feel compelled to record their own Christmas albums. With that in mind, we are especially excited to hear Jessica Simpson’s, Susan Boyle’s and Lady Antebellum’s works; Simpson and Boyle are openly Christian, as is the majority of Lady Antebellum.
So sing along, and enjoy!
